Top Things to Do on Your Trip to Costa Rica

Costa Rica is a natural wonderland that offers a range of exciting activities for travellers. From exploring tropical rainforests to lounging on stunning beaches, there’s something for everyone in this Central American paradise. Here are the best things to do on a trip to Costa Rica:

Explore National Parks and Spot Wildlife

With its diverse ecosystems, Costa Rica is a haven for wildlife enthusiasts. Costa Rica is home to many stunning national parks, including…

Manuel Antonio National Park, a small and easily accessible national park, home to a beautiful combination of tropical rainforest, pristine beaches, and a diverse array of wildlife, including monkeys and sloths. Hiring a local guide was well worth it, they spot creatures you’d never be able to find on your own.

Corcovado National Park, a much more remote and off the beaten path national park located on the Osa Peninsula. It is considered one of the most bio-diverse places on the planet, and probably your best shot at spotting a Jaguar, although don’t get your hopes up.

Arenal Volcano National Park, famous for its active volcano, which provides a spectacular backdrop for outdoor activities like hiking, rafting, and hot springs soaking.

Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve, home to a diverse array of plant and animal species, including the elusive quetzal bird.

Tortuguero National Park, a nesting ground for sea turtles and a popular destination for wildlife viewing and turtle-watching tours.

Hit the Beach

Costa Rica is a surfer’s paradise, with some of the best waves in the world. Head to popular spots like Jaco Beach and Tamarindo for an unforgettable surf experience. With over 800 miles of coastline, Costa Rica is a beach lover’s dream. From the bustling town of Manuel Antonio to the serene Papagayo Peninsula, there’s a perfect beach for every traveller.

Seek Adrenaline

Zip-lining is a popular activity in Costa Rica, offering a unique and thrilling way to experience the country’s lush jungles and breathtaking landscapes.

Whitewater Rafting. Costa Rica’s rivers offer some of the best whitewater rafting opportunities in the world, with rapids ranging from beginner-friendly to expert-level.

Canyoning is one of the coolest things I’ve done. Hike through the rainforest, rappelling down huge waterfalls and jumping into river pools along the way. I went with this company.

Taste the Local Flavours

Costa Rican cuisine is a delicious blend of traditional indigenous ingredients and Spanish and African flavors. Try dishes like casado, gallo pinto, and arroz con pollo.

Costa Rica is also known for its high-quality coffee, and there are several coffee plantations open to visitors where you can learn about the coffee-making process and taste different blends.

These are just a few of the many incredible experiences that await you on a trip to Costa Rica. With its stunning scenery, diverse wildlife, and endless adventure opportunities, it’s no wonder that this Central American country is a top destination for travellers from around the world.
